Papa Pounamu Development

Location Homes was proud to partner with Te Kotahitanga o Te Ātiawa to deliver Papa Pounamu, an eight-home housing development at 51 Barrett Street, Westown, New Plymouth.

As the first development delivered under Te Ātiawa's contemporary papakāinga vision, Papa Pounamu represents far more than a collection of new homes. It reflects a shared commitment to creating quality housing that enables whānau to remain connected to their whenua, culture and community, while addressing the growing need for warm, healthy and affordable homes.

Designed as long-term rental housing for Te Ātiawa whānau, each home has been thoughtfully built to provide comfort, durability and energy efficiency. The development offers affordable, below-market rental homes that provide security today while helping create opportunities for future generations.

Every aspect of the project was carefully considered to honour the identity and aspirations of Te Ātiawa. Drawing inspiration from Taranaki Maunga, the surrounding ngahere, local waterways and traditional Te Ātiawa design principles, the homes sit comfortably within the landscape and reflect the stories and significance of the whenua they stand on.
