Meet Our Managing Director, Klaus Ohlendorf. From apprentice builder to captain of the ship, Klaus has grown alongside Location Homes every step of the way. Below, he shares his journey on how hands-on experience, strong values, and a passion for quality have shaped the way he leads today.
As someone who began on the tools within this very company, I’ve seen first-hand how the right values shape not just the homes we build, but the experience we provide. I pride myself on having a family-focused business with a strong foundation in integrity, respect, loyalty, and a commitment to delivering real quality at every stage of the journey.

What makes us unique is that our leadership is grounded in real, hands-on building experience. I began my journey as a builder here at Location Homes in 2015, completing my trade certificate and licensing, managing builds, and growing alongside the business. That practical foundation has given me a deep understanding of what it takes to deliver a successful project and the ability to share that knowledge with our team. From onsite challenges to client communication, scheduling, and quality control, I’ve experienced it all firsthand. This background not only shapes how I lead, but also how I support and empower our people every day. We make decisions based on lived experience, not guesswork, and we never lose sight of what matters most: delivering homes we’re proud of and that our clients love living in.
I’m incredibly proud of the team we’ve built at Location Homes. Each person brings a unique mix of skills, years of experience, and perspective, but what truly sets us apart is how we all live and breathe the same core values. Location Homes has been a longstanding member of the Master Builders Association since 2011. It’s an organisation I’m genuinely passionate about, and I’m proud to contribute by sitting on the Taranaki Master Builders Executive Committee, helping me stay connected with local industry knowledge and build strong community relationships. I’m also deeply committed to advocating for better regulation in our sector, which is why I serve on the National Residential Working Group, representing the voice of builders at a national level.
